In 2013, the founders of Tin Roof Café realized that shopping malls were rapidly taking over Nairobi, and they were losing precious green spaces where they could take their kids or meet friends for lunch in the sunshine—so they started the café to reclaim those spaces.
They opened their first café in Karen to offer the city’s residents a peaceful place to relax and refresh away from the humdrum of this fast expanding metropolis. The Tin Roof has now been dubbed “Nairobi’s coolest gastro-cafés” but they like to stay humble and simply say they are just good people providing some seriously good food.
They have vegan and gluten-free options in every section of their menu but they are always open to new suggestions if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
They source locally-grown produce, avoid plastic straws, use 100% recycled takeaway boxes and deck out their cafés with upcycled furniture.
