Originally occupied by the renowned wildlife photographer and author Alan Root, the house was later transformed into a small family-friendly kitchen restaurant by Ian and Charlie Cameron. In 2012, Stuart Herd and Satyan Patel took over The Talisman. Thus committing to maintaining its values, and the restaurant has since grown into one of the best in Kenya.
The Talisman is deeply committed to environmental values, evident from its ambiance and appearance. The restaurant is a 100% plastic-free zone and maintains an organic garden that supplies some of its fresh produce.
Vetting of all vendors and conducting hygiene tests on supplier products are standard practices. The use of bamboo straws and recyclable water bottles, coupled with waste management handled by their partners, Takataka Solutions, showcases their dedication to environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, the Talisman offers a distinctive ambience with carved wooden pillars from Pakistan and elegant Afghan rugs. In addition to that, charming fireplaces, sprawling terraces, and idyllic gardens. This blend of fine dining and eclecticism caters to various occasions. For instance, whether it’s a candle-lit romantic dinner, a casual evening drink, or an outdoor lunch with family. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with specific operational hours.
