The Consolata Missionaries started the Home in 1998 to address the issue of street children in Kenya who suffer from abandonment, mistreatment, and neglect. This compassionate home rescues street boys, providing them with a place to call home, where they feel loved and cared for. They can laugh, play, sleep, and attend school, restoring their dignity and giving them a chance at a brighter future. The name “Familia Ya Ufariji,” meaning “Family of Consolation,” reflects the home’s mission to offer comfort and support to these vulnerable children.
Familia Ya Ufariji is duly licensed and registered by the National Council for Children’s Services (NCCS).
